When I look at MODEMWAVE in my XP Pro Registry, with which I have been
trying - in vain - to install a voice modem that worked in Me, I find over
30 entries and I cannot delete them!
Is this normal?

TIA

Yes. It is very common for a single hardware device driver or an
application program to create numerous entries in the registry.

And it is almost as common for the uninstall programs to fail to
remove at lease some of these registry entries. That is why regsitry
cleaning programs are so popular.

Many registry entries are inter-dependant - one entry often depends on
another and requires that it be present.

What is the make and model of your voice modem? Does the manufacturer
list a Windows XP (or Windows 2000) driver for that specific model
number?

Unfortunately it is an External USR Message Modem 566801, which I have
upgraded to V92, and am using the latest V92 drivers for. There are two
drivers 5668V92.INF, 5668V92W.INF and it is the second one (the Wave driver)
which will not install.
So on seeing all these entries in the registry I thought maybe there was a
limit which could not be exceeded. However XP will not delete them.

Any suggestions welcomed.
