Hi,
On the old Excel you could hide a file and every time you load excel it
would be in the background. With the new 2007 you can hide the files but when
you close down excel and re open they are missing and you have to reopen them
any ideas?

Files saved in the XLSTART folder will automatically open when Excel is
opened.
Also if you go to the Advanced group in the Excel Options feature, under
General there is a box in which you can specify another folder that will act
the same.
best wishes

Hi,

I am trying to use protect only it protects the whole sheet i have looked at
the answers but am unable to get all but a few cells locked it seems all or
nothing?

Has any one ele had the same problem.

Hi Sue

By default, all cells have their values set to Locked.
When Sheet Protection is then invoked, all cells would be Locked.

Before Applying Tools>Protection, select the range of cells you want to
leave Unprotected, then choose Format>Cells>Protection and clear the tick
from Locked.
Now apply your Sheet protection.

Hi Sue

No it makes no difference which operating system or which version of Excel -
it works the same.
With Excel 2007 however, you don't have to use Tools>Protection to switch on
protection for the sheet, you just right click on a sheet tab, and one of
the options that appears is Protect Sheet.
