Most all CD's are read only.
Are you using a CD-RW disk?

I had the same problem. I used a CD-RW disk. Most of the
data was restored with no problem. I only had problems
with Microsoft Office data files (Excel & Word files). I
would appreciate any help that anyone could give. Thanks.

Do NOT save the file directly out of Excel to the CD. Save file to HD and copy
to CD.

To change file from read only, when you copy it back to the HD before opening it
in Excel, using Explorer -- highlight file, right click, choose properties and
uncheck read only
