Excel XP

A customer currently is running Microsoft Windows XP and
Microsoft Office XP. The application that we are having
an issue with is Microsoft Excel, when you double click a
document to open it in Excel...Excel opens but that is
all. The document does not come up and there is no new
worksheet, all you get is the gray background, it is as
if you open Excel and then close the current worksheet,
that is what it looks like. If I open Excel the go to
file and open it works just fine but this is a hassle for
the customer. Any suggestions?
 
The client may have selected "Ignore other applications" under Tools,
Options, General. Generally you do not want to do this.
