I have downloaded Excel Viewer, but I cannot open any
email with the .xls suffix. I can't save the file after I
open it so I can't get to Excel Viewer to open it. I'm not
sure if my problem is with saving or viewer. I click on
save when I choose save this file now but nothing happens.

I would suggest that the non-saving problem lies with your email client, not
the Excel Viewer. Most have a right-click on attachment>Save as.

Save the attached file to a folder first. Then open it with the Viewer.
