Excel VBA error 400 when using Application.Worksheetfunction

During a session creating a subroutine in VBA using
application.worksheetfunction.vlookup I appear to have caused VBA not to run
any worksheet fucntions as I recieve a VBA error 400.

Is there some thing I have accidentlyy turned off in VBA?

I use Excel 2003.

Any ideas?
