I must have hit something incorretly earlier today ...
because everytime I open one of my Excel spreadsheets on a
past project, it's been turned into a Word project. It
still has the lines and boxes ... but it's Word.

Does anyone know how to get this corrected, or what I
should do so this doesn't happen again? I don't want to
have to redo these. In fact, I already redid one ... saved
it .. and when I went back to it, it was a WORD file. Arrrgh.

Please drop me a line at (e-mail address removed).

Thank you!!

Bruce -

Can you open Excel, then use Excel's File menu - Open command to open
the files? Then the files are okay.

Has your file association in Windows changed? Word will do its best to
open an Excel file, retaining the tabular structure but obliterating any
formulas and links. Right click on an Excel file in Explorer, choose
Open With from the pop up menu, choose Excel from the list, and check
the box for Always Use This Program to Open These Files. (This is
Windows 2000, which I'm using right now; other Windows versions may have
different procedures, and there are other ways to set the file
associations.)

Jon,

I'm on an iMac ... not using Windows? I appreciate your
response, but now what?

Sorry, Bruce, I haven't used a Mac since 1992, before I discovered
Excel. Isn't there a Mac group here?
