Generally you're out of luck, but Excel does attempt to
keep track of old file until it can replace it, so you should at
least look at the directory and
see if you have files with hex characters (0-9,A-F) without a
file extension, and you can look for files with same name ending
in ".BCK" or is it ".BAK". Don't think I've ever recovered such a
file since Excel 95.
You will have to have your file type set up to view all files and
extensions, no hidden files.
You can have Excel keep a backup for you, you can create
your backup of the Excel file. But you should always have
backup of your user data files, which isn't going to help much
if you created the file after your daily or weekly backup.
