Excel - reference to cell

Looking for an excel formula (to enter in a cell, not in vba)

That will reference a set number of collumns over and return tha
value.

I am used to using vlookup, but it seems like overkill when all I wan
it to reference x collumns over. x being a changeable value and store
in a separate cell
