I have a workbook (aka a File) in excel 2000 with 12
worksheets in it. The file is full of hyperlinks advanced
programming list menus automatic links and other in depth
applications.

My problem is:

(Section 1) Lets for simplicity sake title the worksheets
in the file worksheet (or Tab name) # 1 through # 12.
sheet #1 is the most crucial keystone of all the sheets.
Now, if i want cell "G25" in sheet #4 to read and display
the values in cell "D14" in sheet #3 all i would do is
click in cell "G25" in sheet #4 and type equals ("=") and
then click the tab for sheet #3 and then click in
cell "D14" and in the formula box "=Sheet3!D14" would
appear and after clicking enter it will return me to
cell "G25" of sheet #4 and whatever the value in
Sheet3_D14 is would also appear equally in sheet4_G25...I
understand that is obvious to you and in no way a problem
or complication, that is how it is supposed to work.
however here is the real problem.
(Section 2) Lets say i try to do exactly what I did in
section1 over again except instead of sheet4_G25 eqauling
sheet3_d14, i try to go from sheet4_G25 and have it
reference or equal ANY cell in sheet#1 (i.e. Sheet1_A4) it
will not work.
(Section 3) By not work i mean this. If i start in
sheet4_G25 type in equals ("=") and then click the tab for
sheet#1 then try and click in any cell in sheet1 it simply
will not highlight any cell. in the formula box -after it
type in equals ("=") in sheet4_G25- it will
say "='sheet1'! " but then will not let me highlight any
of the cells in the sheet to use. Basically, referencing
cells in this fashion works for the entire workbook unless
you try to use sheet1.
(section 4)
-There are no protections, locks, or hiddens anywhere on
this sheet.
-i have tried saving this as a different file name.
-i have tried copy and pasting this sheet into something
else and the corruption follows.
-not one person in my company has either seen something of
this magnitude or could figure out how to solve this.

-one thing that may give you more info is that when i try
to insert a row an error box pops up with "cannot shift
objects off sheet"

Thank You very much i hope you will be able to figure this
out

If I read you right, you type = then try and select a cell but it won't let you
select it - If so then instead of clicking on the cell you want, try clicking on
a cell either down below somewhere, or over to the right of your data, and then
use the arrow keys to get the cell you want. No idea why it happens, but it
does, though one of the others may be able to enlighten us :-)

Hi Christian,

Dont know why it is hapenning but just in case u have doubt on why ur
getting a message "cannot shift objects off sheet" is that you might be
having some object (graph/bitmap/embedded doc) either in 65536th row or an
object which might be extending till that row.

(Again my understanding is quite limited, if anybody thinks it could be due
to some other reason please educate me..)

I wish that would work however it does not. I am UNABLE to
click anywhere in the whole sheet. thank you though

There may be a button on Sheet 1 that you can't see.
Choose Edit>Go To, click Special
Select Objects, click OK
Press the Delete key, to delete any objects that were selected.

Or, if there are other objects on the sheet, you can add the 'Select
Multiple Objects' tool to one of your toolbars:

Choose Tools>Customize
Select the Commands tab
Select the Drawing Category
Drag the 'Select Multiple Objects' tool onto one of your toolbars
Click Close

Then, click the Select Multiple Objects button, and select any or all
objects on the worksheet.
