Excel opens up loads of other docs????

Hi there,
can anyone help with my problem?

When I open an excel document, it gives me an error
message 'xxxx file format is not valid' , then it gives
me a series of the same message relating to other
documents of mine, and then it opens them all (I don't
ask it to).

I am on a Win NT network and pretty sure that its not
Viral behaviour.

Try checking TOOLS - OPTIONS - GENERAL. If Alternative Startup Fil
Location has a path then delete it. This could be a reason for multipl
files opening

LB79 is probably right. I'd just add that since Excel 2002 the item is
called "At startup, open all files in".

FYI, Excel will also open all files in your XLSTART folders.
