excel.exe error when adding controls to userforms

I have created a fairly large userform. When I try to add
a new control to it particularly a text box I get a
excel.exe error....it then terminates the program...

Why does this happen??? I am programming in Excel 97
 
Userforms are not always real stable.

try exporting all your code and userforms, then delete them, then save the
workbook, close it, reopen it, then import everything back.

or try using Rob Bovey's free code cleaner addin that will do this for you
