Can anyone help. I have been sent a file via CD Rom it was
saved using XP professional. I have XP Home but can not
open it. I am aware that XP Pro has file encryption would
this be the problem?? Is there a way around it?

Thanks

A file should never be saved to a floppy or a cd. It should be save and then
COPIED to the media.

Is the file an Excel file(*.xls)?

Do you have Excel installed on your computer?

Excel is not by default included with Windows XP Pro or Home.

It is a separate Application, either stand-alone or part of MS Office Suite.

In either case Excel would have to be purchased and installed.

If you do not have Excel, you can download a Viewer which will allow you to
view and print but not alter an Excel file.

You can download an Excel viewer from here....

http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/xlviewer.aspx

It will allow you to View and/or Print Excel workbooks without having Excel
installed.

Instructions at site.

If you do have Excel installed, try moving the file from the CD to your Hard
Drive before trying to open it.
