I have a user who is running English Windows 2000 with
Japnese Characters installed and useing IME.

When the user's is trying to type the Japanese characters
into a Cell, the characters do NOT appear in the Cell or
the Formula Bar. They appear near the Name Box. The
user can't get the characters to appear in the cell until
he hits Enter.

User advises that if he reboots his system the problem
apparently goes away but then comes back later. Now much
later I don't know.

I have two other user's that have the same problem with
the same setup.

Do you think a re-install of Excel will solve this issue.

Has anybody heard of this issue before?

Regards,

Jo

Hi Jo,
I think this is the way it works. I use the exact setup
you mention and found that double clicking the cell such
that the cursor is in the cell will then allow you to
input directly into the cell. Once you have finished your
input hit return (this will verify the Japanese charaters)
and then hit return again to enter.

Hope this is of use.
