Sometimes when I open a file in Excel 2007 it takes sometime to open and I
notice the following at the bottom of the screen.

CALCULATING: (2 PROCESSOR(S)): xxx %

Does anyone know what is happening?

Can I prevent this from happening?

Thanks in advance
Ed

Why would you want that to stop happening? It is Excel making sure your
calculations are up to date. You can stop it in Office button>Excel
Options>Formulas>Calculation options>manual, but you should know you're
doing it as Excel will only re-calc when you press F9

Thank you for the info. Before I do that I guess I have to observe when it
happens. It seems to take a longer with spreadsheets that have minimal
calculations. I have some large sheets with multiple VLOOKUP formulas that
open much quicker.

Again thank you for the quick reply.
