I'm using XP and Excel 2003...everything is current.

I'm copying a cell's formula using ctrl-c, then pasting
to many cells using ctrl-v after selecting the target
cell range.

Upon hitting ctrl-v to paste, I get the following error
message: "Selection too large." I get 1 option: "OK".
Nothing else...no help, no nothing. Very cryptic error
message.

Has anyone else come across this problem? If so, how did
you solve the problem?

Thanks!

I don't think I've seen this error--I still use xl2002.

You may want to give more details to see if anyone can duplicate it.

What's the formula and what's the range you're pasting.

I've had this error too (amongst a number of copy paste errors) and the way
I've dealt with them is to copy, select the range to paste to, then Edit >
Paste special > formulas.

More details:

The formula doesn't seem to matter. What seems to matter
is the number of cells that I am pasting into. If I
paste into more than 3000 cells at a time, I get the
error. If I only paste into 1500 cells at a time, I
don't get the error.

The previous version of Excel did not have this problem.

I put "a" in A1.
I put =a1 in B1.
I copied B1.
I selected B2:B65536 and did edit|paste

65535 cells pasted ok in xl2002.

Maybe it is the formula (or your data???).
