Sorry if this is an easy question. I'm new at this.

I have a worksheet that links to another worksheet in a different file.
Every time I open the worksheet, it gives me the warning that I'm going to
link to another page blah blah blah. Is there a way to make it always link
to this page and not show me that message? I don't want to always click on
"update".

Thanks!

Hi Phil,

just tested this in Excel 2003 (german). By linking other workbooks' cells,
you create a link to this workbook. I am not familiar with the english menu
caption, but you should find a "link" menu entry (or similar) in the edit
menu. It opens a dialog which adjusts how Excel will handle the existing
links (you are not creating new ones) in the future - warning/no warning,
update/no update etc.

cheers,
Stephan

Thanks Stephen, that almost worked.

The "Link" is under Edit in the US version also. I can make it not show the
alert and not auto update the links, but it will not let me set it to NOT
show Alerts and AUTO update the links. I don't know why. Can someone tell
me why it's not letting me tell the worksheet not to give me a warning and
go ahead and update the links?

Never Mind, I found the answer. Thanks!

This option is for the current user only, and affects every workbook opened.
Other users of the workbook are not affected.

1.. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Edit tab.

2.. Clear the Ask to update automatic links check box. If the box is
cleared, the links are automatically updated, and no alert is displayed.
