Would appreciate other advice or comments on this type of procedure:

Converted Lotus123 spreadsheets (seperate, not workbook) to seperate Excel 2003 spreadsheets.

What would be the easiest way to combine the Excel spreadsheets into a workbook with Tabs 1997-2005? These spreadsheets are bank registers with date, transaction type, debit, credit, balance, anf g/l. I tried copy and paste but it is very cumbersome and there are format variances.

I want to generate a yearly total per account with percentage variance based upon a 1997 budget. Would like to create a summary sheet as last Tab.

Bottom line: How do I merge seperate spreadsheets into a yearly workbook or would it be better just to create one spreadsheet with all the data? Limited to 256 memory!

I would do my best to use one worksheet.

Put a year indicator in a column and you could use data|filter|autofilter to see
only certain stuff.

And you could use pivottables to summarize your data.

But if the formats of the worksheets varies, then any code you use to combine
sheets has to be able to determine the configuration--or it's gonna be a manual
effort.

Ron de Bruin has lots of sample code at:

For combining worksheets from various workbooks.
