Excel 2002 can not open earlier verion of excel?

Hi,
I just install excel 2002 and have a hard time open the
older verion of excel. If any one know how to fix this
please help me.

When you say the "older version of excel", do you mean a file created in an
older version or do you mean xl97 or xl2000 or something else?
