My workbook is linked to another workbook. That link is useless.
tried changing the link so that it links to itself but then I get th
message:

"Your formula contains an invalid external reference to a worksheet.
Verify that the path, workbook, and range name or cell reference ar
correct, then try again." After clicking OK about 8 times, the messag
disappears.

I tried emailing this worksheet to an XP platform and saving it t
Excel (XP? 2003?) and changing the link there. That didn't wor
either. The newer version of Excel also has a Remove Link button, bu
that also failed. Please help! It is infuriating to have the workboo
prompt the user for a link upon opening that doesn't exist!!

looked for the phantom link in "named ranges". go to the following menu: Insert, Name, Define and look through the defined names and you may see a link to the phantom spreadsheet. delete the named range and your problem should be fixed. good luck.
