This problem is driving me nuts!

I've installed Office 2000 Premium on a brand new Sony Vaio notebook. Most
of the software works fine. However, Excel 2000 crashes whenever I try to
use the 'format cells' dialogue, and click on the 'font' tab. I get a
memory could not be written error (instruction at 0x77f69ecd) every time.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem or found a solution?

Thanks,

Pete

I've now updated with *all* the available Office 2000 fixes, and still get
the crash, but with a different error message.

This time its that the memory couldn't be read (instruction at 0x308d0ea9)

Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Pete

How many TrueType/OpenType fonts are installed?

Since it happens when trying to draw the Font list, I would tend to think
you have a corrupted font. Try moving them one by one to a temporary safe
location to see if you can narrow down when the problem goes away. Of
course, don't touch system fonts or Tahoma.
