Not sure what you are going to accomplish but read this article:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnxpesp1/html/XPESP1_CF_EWF.asp

Use this Google archive of NG to search for pretty much any topic:

mark,

A few things to check or consider:
- DHCP server presence and availability
- Unnecessary service components (use TD to remove unnecessary components)
- Custom Shell (any internal app delays)
- Winlogon/Minlogon (the latter will force you to remove some components and decrease the image footprint size)
- Any possible driver or app errors (check FBALog.txt and SetupAPi.log)
- Proper Processor component included in your configuration that matches your actual hardware as close as possible
- Hardware (use faster processor, faster boot medium, etc.). Although, this may not fix your original problem as XP Pro, you say,
runs fast on your hardware.

You may also want to try BootVis (MS tool) that is helpful for analyzing the system boot time.

Hi, everyone:

I have built up a xpe image very successfully. However, the boot up process
is very slow. On my XP Professional, it takes about 2 min, while xpe will
takes 6 min. How can I speed up the boot process except making the image
small? thank!
