every other line prints dark

This is a new problem that just occured. Every other line prints dark. It does not matter which printer I use, it does not matter if I print an old document or a new document, and it does not matter what program I use to creat the document. I have Windows XP running on an HP laptop and a Lexmark all in one X125. This setup has run successfully for almost a year. I have not installed any new programs. I have un-installed the Lexmark and then re-installed it. I have hooked up a Canon paralell port printer and a Canon USB port printer, and all yield the same results. I have run Scandisk and it finds no problems. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
