when i hit the url in the event viewer

start menu it does not work too.
The H&S issue can be a real bear, I recently and quite literally spent weeks
with MS on the phone trying to solve a similar H&S problem under warranty,
although I don't think (never checked) that links were not working from the
EV reports. We never solved it, it was some sort of weird and very stubborn
ActiveX/DirectX problem. Eventually gave up and did a repair re-install of
XP, which did fix it. You have to have the very same and exact CD that was
used to install XP with, another will not do, if you try to do a repair
install else you might get locked out from using XP at all. Alternate (or if
you get locked out) is to purchase the FULL RETAIL version (only) of XP Pro
(it has to be Pro), which will let you do an upgrade even on top of an
existing Pro (sometimes the OEM's have a cheaper XP Pro upgrade available).
Whatever you do, don't go for those cheap things you might see on the
internet or you'll end up sorry -- only get XP in the hard to open plastic
case or directly from the computer manufacture.
