When I go to my event viewer on windows 2000 Enterprise
server it says that I have events but when I click on the
folder (security/application/etc), nothing shows up. I
have tried managing the machine from another computer with
the same results, anyone have some ideas?

Thank you

Hi Jay,

You can do this...
Control Panel
Admin... Tools...
Services
Disable Event log
boot
Search for *.evt
change the extension of appevent.evt, secevent.evt, & sysevent.evt to .old in place of .evt
boot
You should have new files. You can go back to Services and change Event log back to
Automatic.
boot for it to take effect.
Oh, you can delete the three files you changed after a couple of days, just to make sure
that everything stays as it should. I point this out, because you will learn to use this
method when getting into strange territory, and not loosing the original files. (You could
have deleted them to begin with, but that was to teach you)

Happy Holidays,
don
