For some reason I can no longer view the Event Viewer logs
for Application and System. I have been able to view
these logs up until now. I have no idea as to why I can't
now and have no idea as to how to correct the problem. My
user account has administrator rights.

Please help.

Hi Tim,

What kind of error do you see when you attempt to open either the System or
Application log?

Here are some things to check on:

1. Can you try to open one of these logs after logging in with the default
Administrator account?

2. Can you check the permissions on the %windir%\System32\Config folder?

3. Check for the presence of the event logs (*.evt) in this folder:

4. What permissions are set for these files?

5. Try to rename these files and restart Windows to see if the symptom
changes.

Paul,

Thank you for your response. I have found the error in my
problem. My account has administrator rights along with
all other "group" rights. After searching the Knowledge
Base another time, I seen my problem. I had rights on one
group that had been changed which resulted in denying my
rights even when I was a member of the administrator
group. I have corrected the "group" issue and now I have
access to the Event Viewer's Application and System logs.

Thanks again,
Tim
