Hi, I've got a new computer with some teething problems:
XP Pro works fine except when it loads into desktop; it then hangs
causing services like Internet Explore and the device manager to
freeze. Also I've noticed that Norton Antivirus checker appears in the
task bar, but is disabled temporarily (with a disabled cross).
However all of these functions are only disabled for about a
minuet until the HDD (S-ATA) speeds up and then the floppy disk is
prompted. After that everything works fine.
Though I can run applications straight away (games, Dreamweaver etc)!
Crazy hu!
I've tried disabling all startup items in MSCONFIG and services + XP
services and found that the "Event Log" is the cause.
The
Source: Service Control Manager
Error: 7022
"The World Wide Web Publishing service hung on starting."
However my Virus checker and firewall is diabled along with IIS when
this is off, this is a realy big problem for me.
I've also tried reinstalling Win XP Pro SP1, but to no avail.
I hope someone can help me out as my computer is boots quicker than
the physical delay that XP causes with this bottle neck.
Many thanks Phill
