Every time I boot XP Pro SP1, I find an error message in the log:
Unable to add the interface {198169D6-3D0B-41E1-BE6F-9E5662C8C8EB} with
the Router Manager for the IP protocol. The following error occurred:
Cannot complete this function.
I've looked at the MS site, but it really doesn't give me a clue where
to start. The interface is listed in the registry as one of four
IEEE1394 cards in
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards\15. In
fact, there is only one IEEE1394 port and it's not in use. The Intel
Pro 10/100/1000 NIC shows OK, as does my previous USB BB modem.
I'm running a Netgear DG834 router, the computer is set to get its IP
address via DHCP from the router. Also connected to the router is a
notebook running XP Home SP1 and a Laserjet via its JetDirect card
(static address). Everything is working fine.
Is this just one of those 'ignore it' messages?
Thanks.
