We have Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 on our server and
workstations. Whenever a workstation is shut off in our
network, the server's event log fills up with Event ID
10009 Source DCOM. The description is "DCOM was unable to
communicate with the computer <COMPUTER NAME> using any of
the configured protocols." What would cause this to happen
and how can I fix it?

Thank you Boudewijn. I had event 10009 in the event log and had no idea
why. Now I know! It was a result of using Exchange message tracking -
as you say, it trys to track the message to the remote SMTP server at
the recipeint's mail server and can't. I'll just relax and ignore the
event from now on! :-)
