Euros instead of Dollar Sign

Hi,
When I press the "$" button on the toolbar, I get the Euro sign instead. If
I go to format the cell the Category is Custom and the type is a very long
one. If I change the Category to Currency and the the simbol to "$", it then
changes to "$". But I want the Toolbar Button to do that so I don´t have to
go to Format the cells. This only happens in one workbook, if I open a new
workbook, it does not happen.
Has anybody experinced this before? Or How can I solve this issue?

Format>Style>Currency>Modify. Change the Euro sign to Dollar sign.

Styles are a workbook setting so someone has changed this previously.
