Excel substitutes fonts when the zoom factor is small (I don't recall what small
is).
Maybe this post by Debra Dalgleish will help:
You can change a registry setting to prevent this from happening (make a
backup copy of the registry first):
1. From the Start button, choose Run
2. Type regedit then click OK
3. Click the + sign to the left of HKEY_CURRENT_USER
4. Open Software, Microsoft, Office, 9.0, Excel, Options
5. Choose Edit>New>DWORD Value
6. Type the name for the DWORD: FontSub
7. Press Enter to complete the renaming
8. Choose Edit>Modify
9. Type 0 as the value, select Decimal, and click OK
10. Close the Registry Editor
=====
That 9.0 will vary with your version of excel.
Actually guys , I have it sorted now, it really is just to do with the page
size. I dont know why but hey!! I'll just have to leave the page size to
anything above 50%!!!
Cheers!!

Thanks Dave, i soreted that problem but i still have the problem of the
document going back to the | sign instead of the € sign when i take the page
size off 75%
:
When you see a cell with a number that's showing ####, it's usually because the
column isn't wide enough.
You could try widening the columnwidth or making the font smaller.

When i do that the whole number appears as #####, i ended up being able to
fomat the cells individually but i had to put the size at 75% if i put it to
50% the euro symbol goes back to a | sign, i even tried reinstalling excel.

Liz,
You can format the cell as
"€ "#,##0.00;[Red]-" € "#,##0.00
which should show as you would wish it to.

When i format cells to show the € symbol in the currency format it
appears as
a| instead, can anyone explain why this is happening, it happened even
when i
opened the document on another pc.
