Why does my Ethernet connection only show 10.0 Mbps instead of 100.0 like
it used to under Win98 and does show on my Win2K Laptop?

Is this a setting or something?

TIA!

Most NICs use a speed parameter which defaults to AutoSense. It's
possible to toggle that to a fixed rate that matches your network. To
change the value, open your Network Connections and Right Click
the appropriate LAC, Left-Click Properties. When the details box
opens Click the Configure button next to box showing "Connect Using".

go to control panel>Network connections>

right click your connection, go to properties. When connection properties
is displayed click on the configure button, then select advanced tab, scroll
down list to Link Speed & Duplex and see what is set, by default it is Auto
Detect I believe.

Also, is the correct network card drivers installed?

Yes, the setting on the Advanced Tab is "Connection Type". I have a choice
of 100Mbps or 100Mpbs Full_Duplex. I chose the later.

Let me know if that is overkill.

Thanks for the tip and the very quick reply!!

Tom
