I have a NetGear ethernet adapter on my laptop. The properties say it is
sending but NOT reciving. Is this a problem in the hardware or something
else?

I have tried everything i know, updated the drivers, used the installtion
disc that came with the adapter.

please reply,

It's good for you to start by updating the drivers. Gets that issue out of the
way.

What is the laptop connected to? A router, hopefully? Have you tried another
cable / another router port? Is there another computer there that you can swap
cable / port with (always test using known good components). Are you using the
correct type of cable (cross-over and straight-thru cables are NOT always
interchangeable).

Please start by providing ipconfig information for the laptop, and for one other
(hopefully working) computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name, version, and SP level) with each ipconfig
listing.

OK, a straight-thru cable connected to a router is a good start. Try swapping
cable / router ports between the desktop and laptop.

Not receiving replies from packets sent could be caused by a bad physical
network (bad network card, bad cable, bad router port), bad network drivers
(you've checked this), bad network configuration (we need "ipconfig /all" from
the laptop).

You provided ipconfig for the desktop system, which gives me an idea what the
ipconfig for the laptop should look like. So let's see what that is, so we know
what to check next.

I dont have the laptop right now... So what should i look for in ipconfig
when i do it on the laptop that might be wrong or out of place.. should i
just compare the computer and the laptop and see what is different.

Is this a software proplem or hardware?

We haven't really done enough tests to see if it is one or the other.

Did you run hardware diagnostics to see if the hardware is OK?

You really ought to have the laptop with you when asking for help - it's kind of
futile trying to guess at the problem without being able to get some
diagnostics.

Is your desktop computer bushman also connected to the router? The ip address
142.165.143.155 is kind of wonky.

What make and model router do you have?
