I just performed a new install of XP Home on my kid's computer, which
includes a LinkSys 802.11b WiFi card. This copy of XP includes only SP1 and
is apparently old enough that it doesn't contemplate accessing the internet
through this means. The only internet setup options I can find contemplate
use of a dial up modem - it doesn't seem to know that there's such a thing as
accessing the internet through the computers WiFi card. If I install the
LinkSys driver, will this solve the problem, or am I missing something else?

Install the LinkSys driver, then reboot the PC.
Also, you should install SP2 as it has much better
driver support.

normally xp will detect the card and ask you to load the drives. If this is
not happening, you may have to run a setup or install from the cd that came
with the card.
