established emails acccounts will not send

We have multiple computers that all have windows mail. All accounts were
working fine. Now we all can not get our email to send as of 6-6-08. All
accounts are the same as they have been for 9 months. Suddenly email will not
send. All other incoming and email access is the same. We use comcast. Is
anyone else having issues with this? We have tried reentering the smtp.

Please include the exact, complete, error message.
 
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'test ', Account: 'mail.rescueeverydog.org', Server:
'smtp.comcast.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
 
Hi

It would seem your ISP has followed many others in the fight against spam
and now require you to have a username and password to send email, this is
easily corrected by marking the box "My Server Requires Authentication" then
enter the username and password or mark "Use same settings as incoming
mail".

There is also a good chance they have blocked port 25 so you can only use
their smtp server.

Comcast is changing customers to a different SMTP port without telling them.
In the Advanced tab of your account's properties, change the port from 25 to
587. Also, go to the Servers tab and enable "My server requires authentication."
Since this appears to be a hybrid account, click on the adjacent "Settings"
button, select "Log on using", then enter your Comcast credentials.
 
Thank you for responding. Clarification: We do not use a comcast email but go
out via them and use our own web site email and addresses. We have been down
for 2 days here very frustrating and costly. Are the instructions the same
since we do not have a comcast email?

Yes, I was aware of your mail setup since your mail account was named
'mail.rescueeverydog.org'. For that reason I gave you custom instructions
that will work with that type of 'hybrid' mail account.

If anyone else has an established email and comcast and is now suddenly not
able to send email the above is the instructions on how to fix it (same as
Garys's) if you have your own email address. Comcast send you anotice but if
you do not actaully ise comcasts email you won't see the notice unless you go
looking for it. See Comcast.net for other versions of the fix. Thank you Gary
and Dave you were a huge help ;o) Now we have Six more computers to fix.
