ERRORS & TESTING ERUNT

B4 converting all my partitions to NTFS, I needed a new
Registry backup app so I installed ERUNT. To test it I added
a new OE Rule to get Registry R1 where the initial I'll call
R0. I was able to restore both R0 & R1 with the new OE rule
appearing in OE when it should.

I actually expected this test to fail because on my 1st
backup & 1st restore I got 5 error msgs about missing files
like
"\Device\HarddiskVolume1\WINDOWS\System32\Config\SECURITY".
Also a msg for DEFAULT,SAM,SOFTWARE, SYSTEM. So 5 msgs form
ERUNT & 5 from ERDNT.

I did Google this NG & found no such err msgs. My rule test
is only a necessary 1 but not sufficient. I'm hoping to find
a new test key I can use & where to put it so I can test if
all Reg hives are being backed-up & restored OK.

Comments/suggestions/corrections appreciated.
Your help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks- bye- Larry

Any advise given is my attempt to show appreciation for all
the excellent help I've received here but I'm no MVP so it
may only apply NUGS (Normally, Usually, Generally, Sometimes :)

ERUNT comes with a handy readme file that explains all of this in great
detail. I have no clue about what an OE Rule is - but I backup my registry
daily using the method in the readme file and it works just fine.

Old versions of ERUNT that work fine in XP SP0 and SP1 will fail in
SP2 with errors about not being able to access the hive files.
Similarly, old versions on Licenturion's XP Info fail in SP2.

In both cases, the fix is to get newer versions of the tools.

Your mileage sounds a bit different, tho, in that you say the same
ERUNT worked the next time you tried it?
