My nephews used my window xp computer a few times to play games. I'm not
sure what he downloaded or installed, but everytime I turned on the computer,
I got the error message: "Errors in loading C:\Windows\hgdebb.dll. The
module can not be found". Is there a way to fix this error or get rid of the
error message?

Thanks for your help!

scan the pc with anti virus, eg via trendmicro.com
Run multiple malaware scanners, eg SpyBot, Adaware, Windows Defender
The system is likely infected

Wow, this is perhaps the sixth time a question just like this has been
posted today .

What is likely happening is that an anti-virus program identified malware
and removed the file (hgdebb.dll) and left the launcher reference behind.
You don't get many results on Google for the name because the filename is
generated locally to help avoid identification.

Go to start, run, msconfig, and locate the reference that launches the file.
Then use Explorer or regedit to delete the reference.

Navigate to this entry on the Windows explorer, by double click the Windows
explorer on your desktop or the Programs Menu, locate the entry and remove it.
C:\Windows\hgdebb.dll

Also you can use the Autoruns from MS to see all DLL:

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware with
assistance from an expert. **Post your log to

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.

thank you all for your suggestion! I ran MS autorun and disable the file.
Currently I
ran Window Defender to scan all files in the system. I have found the reg
key but not sure delete it will cause any harm or not.

Disabling it from Startups is not the way to fix this.

You're going to need the assistance of any expert to deal with this.
