Hi, I cannot send/receive emails! My connection is fine, as well as
everything else... I have had other problems with this windows mail in the
past and usually get the answers I need on here just by searching, however I
cannot find one this time. I pasted my errors below, from both addresses.
This just drives me crazy, seems like I get the bugs out, works great for
about a week or two, then something else pops up! I must say, I cannot stand
this windows mail right now or this vista home pre., nothing but problems.
Please if you have any answers for this let me know. I have mcafee, however I
got rid of the spam killer, because that is garbage to my email as well, just
messes it all up everytime they do an upgrade, takes hours to fix it,
ridiculous if ya ask me! Thank you for your help...

Hi Dave, I just tried that and it did not work... These are the settings they
put me at the last time I had problems with windows mail. I am at a loss, I
guess I will have to phone them in the morning. Thank you for trying to help
me... :)

Looking via Google.... I'm not familiar with ptd.net

I don't see in the setup instructions, where it says to use SSL & port
995...
http://www.ptd.net/tiki-index.php?page=setting_up_email_Windows_Mail_Vista

Tools- Accounts - youraccount - Properties - Advanced
uncheck both SSL boxes
Try changing SMTP port to 25, and POP3 port to 110

On the Servers tab, under Outgoing Mail Server, you do need to check [x] My
Server Requires Authentication

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
