Hello K,

I'm sorry I don't recall who originally posted most of this answer, but
it might fix your problems.

Click Start, Run, then type in: regsvr32 /i browseui.dll
Press Enter
Then type in: regsvr32 /i shell32
Press Enter

You can alkso look into a replacement for the companion if these options
don't fix the problem. I "think" a program named Agent Ransack is a
replacement search that works well with XP. http://www.agentransack.com/

When i try to make a search i obtain then next error....

"A file that is requerid to run Search Companion cannot be found. You may need to run Setup"...

How can i fix it whitout format or restore the machine !!!!

Copy and paste the following line to a Start > run prompt:

rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
%systemroot%\inf\srchasst.inf

The program will reinstall search and it will ask for the XP CD.
