Error when re-instaling XP

When I re-installed Xp I got this meesage when the final
part of the installation went to load windows, It said
that when ows could not load because the following file
was corrupt or missing, \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYTEM

How do I fix this problem, or will I end up loseing
everything on this harddrive?
