Error When Opening Outlook

Whenever I try to open outlook, I get an error message saying Outlook has
encountered a problem and needs to close. I have uninstalled Outlook and
reinstalled Outlook several times, and downloaded all the updates available.
I have even uninstalled Outlook and downloaded a newer version of Outlook. I
am now operating Outlook XP. All my other office products work fine, it is
just Outlook, which worked fine until it all of a sudden started coming up
with that error whenever I tried to open it. I do not use Outlook for my
e-mail, only for my contacts and calendar. If you have any suggestions, or
know of anything that could help, PLEASE let me know!

When you did a Repair - did you tick the Reset My Custom settings option? You
shouldn't loose any work but this worked for me.
 
Thank you for your advice. I tried everything the help page suggested. My
computer would not start it in a safe mode. It also will not let me create
any type of new user for my outlook or change any of the properties with the
old users. I am at a loss for what to do as I've tried Outlook 2000 and
Outlook XP. I just don't understand why it worked one day and then the next
I started getting all these error messages, and they continue even after
uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook. If anyone has any other advice,
PLEASE let me know.

This is what the Error Message contains:
AppName: outlook.exe AppVer:10.0.6626.0 ModName: msouplug.dll
ModVer:2004.1.4.17 Offset: 00016e08
If anyone knows what this error is please let me know
 
I found the answer on the Internet. I had to change the msouplug.dll to .old
and now it works fine. Hope this might help someone else.

Msouplug.dll is part of Norton AntiVirus. Remove NAV and see if you still
have the problem. If the problem goes away, reinstall NAV but don't install
the email scanning.
 
Hi everyone.

KMK, I have the same problem but it happen since de very beginning when I
did install Ofice 2003.

In my case the error signature says:

AppName: outlook.exe AppVer: 11.0.6353.0 AppStamp: 408f2937
ModName: mso.dll ModVer: 11.0.6408.0 ModStamp: 416add54
fDebug: 0 Offset: 000f206b

Can you tell me, please, where on the net did you find the answer?
