Hi all!

I have repeatedly tried to install a Belkin USB PDA
adapter (I had it installed properly and then it stopped
working properly). I installed the drivers but then
every time the hardware wizard tries to install the
hardware, I get an error message "The hardware could not
be installed. Access denied." I am using Windows XP,
the drivers I am trying are XP drivers downloaded from
the Belkin website, and I am the system administrator as
set up in User Profiles. Any suggestions...it's driving
me crazy!

Thanks!

I would try this: Connect the adapter. From Device Manager/View menu
select View Hidden Devices. Now remove every remnant of the adapter
that you can find. From Add/Remove Programs, do the same (I don't
believe anything is there, but check to make certain). Shut down,
disconnect the adapter when shut down.

Reboot. Do not connect the adapter. Install the driver with the
adapter disconnected. If the driver installs, connect the adapter the
first time and it "should" be identified correctly.
