Error when creating new message in Outlook 2007

I recently installed Office 2007 on a Windows Vista laptop. I was able to
configure my email account and a test message was generated. However, when I
attempt to create a new mail message, I get the following error: You don't
have appropriate permission to perform this operation.

I read other similar posts and renamed and deleted the srs file. Any
assistance is appreciated.

Did you upgrade to Outlook 2007? Are you using a PST?

I did not upgrade to Outlook 2007. This was a clean install. I am using a pst.

Have you checked for errors in the PST? You can also close Outlook and rename
the frmcache.dat and outcmd.dat files.
