Error when closing an Access Application

Recently a new error has occured in an Access 2000 application.
When the users close the application, they get the message:
An error has occured an Access has to be closed down. Do you want to repair
(compress)....
(Translated from norwegian).
This happens most of the time when they try to closae, but not always.
The application has been working for several years without this error
(merssage) .

Is it a new installation? Maybe compact on close is set to yes and is causing
the problem. Tools - options etc...
