sending error info to microsoft. Other componets of office works very well.
what will cause this situation? thanks a lot!

my laptop is centrino 1.5g, 512ddr, 40g, ati mobility radeon 9700...

What Service Packs are installed? Is the operating system and the Office
applications up-to-date on their support upgrades?

I have installed windows xp sp2 and office 2003 sp1. I also installed
microsoft visual studio .net 2003 and .net framwork sp1. maybe there are any
conflicts within these softwares?

Good.

First I would recommend that you run Detect and Repair. From PowerPoint go to
Help > Detect and Repair. If it still gives you an error
I would go to Start > Run and type sfc \scannow and click okay. That will run
the system file checker. You will probably be asked to insert your Windows
installation CD in your CD drive, so have it handy. The sfc will take time to
run, so just be patient. When it's done test to see if you can close PowerPoint
without the error.
