Error sending when nothing to send.

My outbox is empty, but every time I click Send/Receive it attempts to
send and displays an error. I have seen other postings in the
newsgroups which suggest that this can be caused by a dodgy read
receipt, but I don't believe this is the problem because I have
Outlook configured to never send read receipts.
I have suddenly started getting this error today. I haven't changed
any settings, and have been working fine for months. The error occurs
on one of the POP3 accounts I have set-up. I have deliberately set the
sending server on this account to an invalid name, as I only ever use
this account for receiving mail. I am used to getting this error when
I accidentally try to send through this account, but I can usually fix
this by opening the item in the Outbox and changing the account. My
outbox is empty, it should not be trying to connect to the sending
server.
Any ideas?
TIA
Phil

Hello,
I don't think I can help you w/ your problem but maybe
you can help w/ mine? I have a Yahoo account and
redirected my mail to Outlook 2000 using the POP3
(actually an IT person helped me). Well, now I can
Receive mail in Outlook but I can't Send. The mail gets
stuck in the Outbox.
Can you help?
Thanks.

I'm not sure why you have hijacked my thread, as your problem is
completely unrelated to mine.

Did it work and then stop or has it never worked?
What error message is displayed in the Send/Receive Details window?

Make sure you have chosen the option to use authentication, but do not
select the option to use SPA. Make sure your email address that you
are using is correct, and make sure that your subscription to the
Yahoo POP Access & Forwarding service has not expired.
There is more information about how to set-up Outlook to work with
Yahoo here:
http://help.yahoo.com/help/mail/pop/pop-11.html

My problem is nothing to do with Yahoo, I am using Outlook 2003 not
Outlook 2000. My problem is not when I am trying to send. I have
nothing in my Outbox, yet I still get the error message. Anyone have
any idea what might be causing my problem and how to solve it?

Thanks,
Phil.
