Last week I had a virus on 5 files. Through Norton, I
removed the virus (and the files). But now, every time I
start up the computer, I get a message that Windows can't
find the file "dust.exe" (one of the files with the
virus. I removed it...). The file is obviously not
necessary for the correct working of my computer, because
until now I could do my normal work. But, How do I get
rid of that continuous pop-up screen...? Or, if it is a
necessary file, where do I find it to install it again?
If you can help me, please answer.

Thanks a lot.

Hit the Start button, choose Run... and start msconfig. Hit the startup
tab and see if there is a checkbox next to the string which has dust.exe
is in. Hit <OK>. This should stop the message from popping up. The
next time you boot your computer, you will get a message box about the
change you just made. Just hit <OK> to continue.

Dear Dave,

Thanks a lot for writing an answer. But, after I started
msconfig in the startup tab there is no "dust.exe" so I
cannot uncheck it... Are there any other possibilities or
solutions, that I could try out? Thanks,
Koen

I understand that, and I already thought so... but how do
I remove that pop-up error screen? Through msconfig, start
up it does not work, because it does not appear in the
list.
