Error - Running Applications

Does anyone know why every time I open an application, that program is first
attempting to open its own ".exe" file? I run XP SP2 for about 2 months and
can't explain how annoying this "feature" is. Didn't have this problem in SP1
and although I tried to fix it myself in SP2 I was unsuccessful.

i.e. I open RealOne Player -> first thing the player tries to play is
"real.exe" ???

I read something on another forum that this is a "security feature" in SP2.
If so, and if it can't be removed, I'm downgrading soon to SP1.

Any ideeas? I would very much apreciate any help.

Hi,

Reset the .exe and .lnk file associations. There are quick fixes at
www.dougknox.com under WinXP fixes/File association fixes. This is not an
SP2 problem, it is a file association problem, uninstalling SP2 will likely
not resolve the problem.
