error report

when i try to install the sims 2 game i keep getting error report saying not
valid win32 application have done the trouble shoot which told me to goto
registry editor now in cdrom image path in the value data my pc reads
system32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys where in the help page it says something else can
you please help thank you pauline rae.
 
thank you for your respond to my ? i have installed on another pc is my cdrom
done or can it be repaired thanks pauline rae.
