When i try to run a dos program and error message comes up like so:

16-bit ms-dos subsystem

C:\windows\system 32\autoexecnt.. the system file is unsuitable for
running MS DOS and microsoft windows applications. click close to terminate
the application.

the message alo appears when installing some programs, such as Norton
Antivirus

is there a way to fix this?

The problem is caused by the sp2 update which deletes the autoexec.nt file
from c:\windows\system32. You need it to run dos or old windows programs in
sp2. You need to find the file and copy it to the current system32
directory. Then toy programs will run just fine.

Look in the backed up files from sp1. I'm not sure how to do this. I usually
backup the entire directory just in case and it is available in my backup. I
copied it over to the new system32 directory and all is well.

Good luck.

Hi

The installation of SP2 does *not* delete this file, but
it could be caused a trojan or something similar, e.g.
TrojanDownloader.Win32.Dia.a, more about this here:
